This French varietal was developed in the 1860s as a cross of Syrah and Peloursin grape. Ours is deep purple-red with blackberry and raspberry aromas as well as some toasted oak and vanilla. The flavors are reminiscent to the nose with lots of dark berry fruit. Dry with surprisingly soft tannins for this heavy red. Pairs beautifully with steak.
